Oh my ever loving God! This show is such a trip!!! It is a reality show about the Irish Gypsies of Great Britain. Also known as Travelers, because many travel from City to City in little mobile homes. Many of the girls get marrried at age 16 or 17 to men around 18 to 21. This is NORMAL for them, but shocking to us Americans. And these girls wear the MOST OUTRAGEOUS wedding gowns! Sometimes with as many as 20 under skirts making their dresses poof out to as much as 10 feet or more from hip to hip. These ball gown skirts are so huge, that the girls often have trouble walking. And talk about GAUDY and UGLY ass bride maids dresses. Some of them are neon green and orange, hot pink and black, and fire engine red with black piping, also with giant ball gown skirts; these are just some of the atrocious color combinations for the bride maids dresses. But the hideous dresses dont end with the bride or the bride maid, the mother of the bride and many of the guests dress like street walkers. Micro minis, sequins, midriffs, cutouts, one shoulder or bustiers are the norm for many of the attendees. And when they dance, the only thing missing is the pole. You would think that they were auditioning for who can dance the sluttiest. And it's not just the friends of the bride who dance like that, grown women, 8 and 9yr old girls, etc...all dance like video hos!!!! and strippers.
Many of the British hotels and motels refuse service to Traveler Weddings because the Travelers are ghetto types who love to party hard and get into fights at the receptions. And once the girl is married, she will move out of her family residence to live in a mobile home with her new husband and she is not allowed to work. Her "job" is to clean the trailer and cook the meals. That's it. Which is cool, because many of the girls are functional illiterates because they dropped out of school at age 11 or 12. They do this to help out at home. Many of the boys are the same way. They dont have educations because many make a living in fight clubs and grifting.
What boggles my mind is where do the families come up with the money for the dresses, elaborate cakes and enormous receptions? They dont do anything on the cheap. And in their culture, you dont send out wedding invitations.. It's all word of mouth and anyone in the community can attend the wedding and reception.
Also, in traveler culture, girls are not allowed to approach boys. There is no premarital sex !!! Girls are not allowed to be alone with boys at any time for any reason. Even after they become engaged. If the couple wants to go out shopping for their future household, they MUST be accompanied by a chaperon, like a parent, grandparent, aunt, etc. However, if you are at a function, like a wedding reception or birthday party, and a boy likes a girl he can just go up to her and grab her and carry her off outside and try to get her to kiss him and give him her phone#. If she refuses, he can twist her arm and make her kiss him. This is perfectly acceptable and the one exception to the rule of males and females now being allowed to be alone together.
It's just SHOCKING! The Gypsy Culture. Now I completely understand why they are frowned upon in most of British and European societies. Check it out on netflix or redbox. hahahaha
