Country singer Craig Strickland is missing and his friend Chase Moreland was found dead after an ominous tweet was sent forshadowing their fate on the day after Christmas.
On Dec 26th, Craig tweeted, “In case we don't come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm,” Morland tweeted on Saturday, December 26. Strickland, who is the vocalist for the Arkansas band Backroad Anthem, retweeted the message the same day.
According to Oklahoma’s News9, the two went missing after embarking on a hunting trip north of Tulsa, in Kay County, Oklahoma. On Sunday, a search was launched and a boat the two men were reportedly using was found capsized in the early hours of Monday. The hunters were not located at the time, News9 reported.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirms to Us Weekly that Morland’s body was recovered around 11:10 Monday, but that the search for Strickland continues. According to law enforcement, search and rescue is looking around Kaw Lake.
“Everyone please say special prayers for the family of Chase Morland. They were very close friends and it is such a heartbreaking loss,” Backroad Anthem posted on their Facebook page on Monday, December 28. “Randy Strickland (Craig's father) has informed us Craig has not been found. Please keep praying for his safety.”
