Update: Couple Finds $10 Million in Gold Coins in their Backyard

I love being right and you can check my earlier post where I predicted that these coins were stolen. Turns out I was right. I know I already wrote that....just driving my point home.  hahahahaha So according to an article that historian Jack Trout found, these gold coins were stolen from the US Mint in SF way back in 1899. Those coins were never recovered although someone was arrested for the crime. Apparently the stolen coins from 1899 were newly minted at the time of the theft, and these appear to be uncirculated and "new" also. These coins add up to $27,000.00 usd at face value. However there is an extremely rare 1866 Liberty $20,00 gold piece which is missing the words, "In God We Trust". This coin was minted the year after President Lincoln was assassinated. This coin was part of the 1899 theft and was found among the coins that the couple found. Since these coins were stolen from the US Mint, they belong to the US Government and therefore the couple is not entitled to the current value of $10 Million, they will only receive a finders fee of about 10%. However, Mint spokesman Adam Stump issued this statement when contacted today by ABC News: "We do not have any information linking the Saddle Ridge Hoard coins to any thefts at any United States Mint facility. Surviving agency records from the San Francisco Mint have been retired to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), under Record Group 104. Access to the records is under NARA's jurisdiction: http://www.archives.gov/." So I guess someone is going to check into the archives and see if the found coins match the records? Yes? Hello? Maybe not?!?! hahahaha
