Wow! This was a really good movie. I couldn't predict a damn thing in it! hahahaha There were only a couple of flaws that I saw, but other than that, just a damn good movie.
This movie, Catch Hell, was written, directed and produced by Ryan Phillippe. I don't know if this was his first script but it was a damn good movie. The plot, is a well known actor, flies to Shreveport Louisiana to make a film. The actor is fresh out of rehab and needs this movie to jumpstart his diminishing career. So, the first day he meets with the director and finds he doesn't like him so he calls his agent to try and get out of it. But the agent tells him, he needs this movie. So he stays and trys to make the best of a bad situation. The next morning bright and early, the front desk calls him and tells him that a car is there to take him to the set. So he jumps up and gets dressed and goes downstairs to the front of the hotel. Two men pull up in a van and he gets in and they start driving. They exchange some small talk and Ryan realizes that he doesn't know where he's supposed to meet for the rehearsal at 1pm. And he wants to call the director, so the bald guy, named Jr tells him, "give me your phone and I'll punch in the number". So Ryan hands him his phone and Jr promptly turns it off and puts in his fanny pack. Ryan, orders Jr to return the phone, but Mike, the driver, tells him sit back and shut the hell up. This is the first inkling that something is wrong here. After awhile they get to a cabin way out in the swamp. They get out of the fan and Ryan gets a little mouthy with Mike who proceeds to beat him unconscious. Then they drag Ryan into the cabin and handcuff and chain him to the wall. Mike starts yelling at him and accusing him of sleeping with his wife and ruining his marriage. Ok, so now we know the who and the what and the why. Ryan allegedly met Mike's wife who was working on a movie with him, she worked in wardrobe and then Ryan slept with her that ruined his marriage. Mike got into a domestic with his wife, got fired from the police dept and did a year in prison and now he cant even see his 2 sons. (Rolls eyes, so typical, backwoods hillbilly lowlife wife beater. hahahaha) Anyway, Mike is now a security guard and after a day of torturing Ryan, he must go into work and wont be back for 2 days. Jr is left in charge. Oh while Mike was torturing Ryan, he made him give him his passwords to both his cell phone and his laptop. Mike and Jr then post naked pics of 2 of Ryan's ex girlfriends to the web and Mike tweets 2 antisemitic rants. So Mike is hell bent on publicly destroying Ryan as well. So Mike goes to work and while he is gone Jr takes pity on Ryan and gives him hydrocodone for the pain and then he kills an alligator that wandered into the cabin. Jr then skins it and cooks it making an alligator stew. Mike keeps checking up on Jr, by calling him on his cell phone. Jr roofies Ryan and then hits on him, when Ryan passes out, Jr removes Ryan's pants and underwear and positions him on his knees on the side of the bed. Then Jr removes his shorts and starts to masturbate to get himself hard enough to have intercourse with Ryan. Ryan is pretending to be unconscious and just as Jr is trying to penetrate him, he attacks Jr and ultimately kills him. Both men are lying on the floor and another alligator comes in and grabs Jr by the foot and drags him out of the cabin. Ryan jumps up and gets dressed. Meanwhile, Mike calls again and this time he cannot reach Jr. So he leaves his job early and heads off to the cabin. This the 2nd mistake, when Mike leaves work, he jumps into a truck, but the entire time of the film, they were driving the van that the picked Ryan up in at the hotel. Anyway, Mike tries to drive back to the cabin, but one of the roads is out due to the rain. So he then goes to a relatives house and takes a boat. When he arrives at the cabin, he finds Jr dead at the waters' edge. Apparently, the gator was only half hungry because he ate Jr's lower half from the top of the butt down. hahahaha Mike walks over to the cabin and goes inside, using his flash light he starts looking for Ryan, he's not in the main cabin and he's not in the bathroom. then Mike walks back into the main cabin and starts sweeping the room with his flashlight, and then he finds Ryan huddled in a corner of the cabin, but it's too late because Ryan uses a bungee cord to shoot a machete into Mike's chest wounding him. Then Ryan takes axe handle with a big rock tied to it to beat Mike to death. Ryan stays in the cabin until morning and then he walks out and gets into the boat and leaves and finds some fisherman who rescue him and take him to a hospital. Ryan then gives several interviews about his ordeal. His agent calls him and tells him everyone wants him to star in their movie now and he has offers up the ying yang. Later that day, Ryan is checking his emails and he finds one from Jr who made a movie of them in the cabin, with Ryan tied to the bed and Jr wearing the alligator skin and dancing around the bed Ryan is lying in. And that's the end of the move.
The other mistake was when they first kidnapped Ryan and they were driving to the cabin, Ryan asked them to turn on the radio, and Jr turns it to a rap station, but once the jig is up and Jr takes Ryan's phone. Mike turns the radio off and says, "I hate Nigger music.", Later in the film, we find out that Mike's exwife, the one that Ryan supposedly slept with is AfroAmerican. If Mike is a racist, what the hell was he doing with a AfroAmerican wife?
