Dubai Arrests and Convicts Norwegian Woman For Reporting Rape

This is ABSOLUTELY disgusting! A Norwegian woman, Marte Dalelv, was raped by a coworker in a hotel in Dubai. After the rape occurred, Marte goes downstairs to the Lobby to ask for Police to be called and report the rape. First of all, the hotel staff ask her if she is sure she wants the police to be called? And Marte tells them , "of course, that is what we do where I am from". DUH! Well things go way down hill from there. Instead of taking a police report, Marte is arrested and held for 4 days without being able to contact anyone for having sex outside of marriage. It was sex, you nimrods, IT WAS RAPE! RAPE IS NOT SEX!!! She is subsequently convicted of having sex outside of marriage and sentenced to 16 months in prison. While out on bail, Marte goes public with her conviction and the fact that the police refuse to act on her rape allegation. Her rapist, a Sudanese co-worker is also convicted of sex outside of marriage and for being drunk in public. After going public and with the help of the Norwegian Government, Dubai does a 180 and drops the conviction and returns Marte's passport to her and tells her she can leave the country if she so desires. If I were her, I would have run to the airport and caught the first flight the hell out of there. Not this chick, she wants to hang out and thank all of the people who helped her. Hey, you can thank them on the phone! Get out while the getting is good!!! Wow, can you believe that in 2013, a person can be arrested and convicted for reporting  a crime done to them?? Just SHOCKING!!!
