End of an Era...Paris Removes "Love Locks" From Pont Des Arts Bridges and Other Bridges!!!!
Awww, this is really heartbreaking news, the City of Lights, Paris France is removing the "love locks" from the Pont des Arts bridges and other bridges due to safety hazards. Recently, one section of the Pont des Arts bridge collapsed due to the weight of the locks that many couples have attached to the bridge railings. No one knows when this fad was started but it had become a tradition for couples to write their names or initials onto a lock and then lock it to the bridge railings and then throw the keys into the River Seine. Symbolizing that the couple would stay "locked" together as long as that lock was locked onto the railing. Awww, isn't that sweet! Well, now since the accident, Paris is now removing the hundreds of thousands of locks, they estimate 4 to 5 tons of metal from all of the locks. It's too bad because all of the those people who started selling locks near the bridges for $5 euros ($5.50 USD) will now be out of business. C'est la vie! ( Such is life.) I probably should have placed a lock on one of the bridges when I was in Paris back in 1998 and Hans and I would still be together. Boo hoo boo hoo boo hoo. Sigh. hahahaha
