Michigan Woman Sues Holland America After Employee Assaults and Tries to Murder Her!!!

I think you will need to sit down for this one. A Michigan woman has filed a lawsuit against Holland America after one of it's employees assaulted her and tried to murder her during her cruise. The woman, only identified in the lawsuit as "Jane Doe" had returned to her cabin and had just gotten into bed when the attacker jumped from his hiding place and attached her. The attacker was a Holland America Jr. Room Service Attendant and he has a master key to all of the rooms. He used heavy objects to beat her about the head and body and he used the telephone cord to try and strangle her. The attack went on for 45 mins and she was screaming bloody murder. What she didn't know and I am sure other passengers didn't know this either, but on the ship when you dial 911 it sends your call to the front desk and not to the security office. So her fellow passengers were calling 911 and getting the front desk. Also, the front desk clerks do not have room keys or a master key, so they had to wait for security to show up to get into the room, but by that time "Jane Doe" had broken free and was in the hall with the other passengers who heard her screams. She bloodied from head to toe and half naked. "Jane Doe" is seeking punitive and compensatory damages but dollar amount has been specified. This is why I would never go on a cruise alone. You are at the mercy of the ship's personnel and also the other passengers. If I were to go alone on a cruise, you would never catch me walking on the outer decks alone and I would only drink in my room. You are not going to catch me staggering around on the ship so that some  nefarious person could do me in or toss me overboard.

Holland America released the following statement in part, "We are terribly saddened that this event occurred," said spokeswoman Sally Andrews. "Our thoughts, prayers and support remain with the victim and we are committed to a fair and collaborative resolution of this tragic event. It is right that justice prevailed and the perpetrator was sentenced accordingly." Yeah, I don't believe you, as soon as you pay "Jane Doe" seven figure settlement, then you will be sorry.
