United Nations Changes Hotels for General Assembly in Sept....Due to Cybersnooping and Eavesdropping Fears!!!
Every year the United Nations has its General Assembly in September and usually they take over 2 floors at the famed Waldorf Astoria Hotel, well that was until a Chinese Insurance company purchased it from the Hilton Worldwide for $1.95 billion, yeah that's right BILLION with a B! hahaha The Hilton Worldwide will still run the Waldorf for the next 100 years. However, the Chinese company, the Angbang Insurance Group, has planned a "major renovation" for the Waldorf, and the UN fears that that is going to include hidden mics and cameras so that the Angbang can do some spying for the Chinese Government. The recent hack of the US Government was allegedly done by Chinese Hackers and they stole the personal information for every Government employee, past and present. So I agree with the United Nations that they should not continue to use the Waldorf when there is a high chance that Angbang could be spying. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, right? So, now the United Nations will be using the New York Palace Hotel. Big coup for the Palace, that's a big booking for them.
