Wow, so we went nearly 3 weeks without losing a celebrity, but sadly singer Etta James has lost her battle with Leukemia at the tender age of 73. Although Etta James was a prolific singer and recording artist and a 6 time Grammy winner and 17 times Blues Music Award winner; her 1961 cover of At Last was her biggest hit. In recent years, there was some controversy when Beyonce recorded the tune for the movie Cadillac Records. The controversy started after Beyonce sang At Last on Fashion Rocks 2009 and Etta was in the audience. Then Etta had a concert a few days later and was trash talking about Beyonce singing HER song. Dont you just love old people. hahahahaha Well, rest in peace Miss Etta James.
Whose next? There are quite a few celebrities that are above the age of 80, Clint Walker, Kirk Douglas, etc Not that I am wishing any ill will upon anyone, but I cannot remember a recent new year when there wasn't a slew of celebrity deaths shortly after Jan 1st. So this has been an unusual year so far. I'm just saying.
