Misty Copeland Named First Afro-American Principle Ballerina at American Ballet Theatre (ABT)

Wow, this is amazing. American Ballet Theatre has named it's first Afro-American as their Principle Ballerina.ABT has been in existence for 75 years and this is the first time they have had their Principle Ballerina has been anything other than white. We have come so far in some ways and yet in others we are still back in the Jim Crow days. Misty is 32 yrs old and has only been dancing ballet since she was 13 yrs old. So this is an amazing fete for her as well. She is just an amazing dancer! Such talent, such grace and such beauty. She can evoke so many emotions in you as you watch her dance. I get transported to a beautiful and peaceful place when I watch her dance. And she is funny too. She has been a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance for a couple of seasons now and I love her insight, honesty, and wisdom. Congratulations Misty. I see another NAACP Image Award in your future gurl. hahahaha
