Palmdale Chevron Under Investigation for Fraud in Lottery Compliance Check!

On March 25th of this year, an undercover California Lottery investigator took a "winning" lottery ticket to a Palmdale Chevron station. The ticket was worth $75,000.00 but the Chevron employee on duty gave the man $75.00. The owner of the station claims that it was an honest mistake and that when the employee realized it, he brought it to her attention. She claims that she then contacted the Lottery office but no one got back to her. However, the Chevron station held onto the ticket for 40 days and failed 3 times to disclose the details of the mistake to Lottery Officials when they visited the location after the incident. The Chevron then went to the media and released footage of the transaction in hopes the man in the video would come forward to claim his prize. I say, that's all bullshit. I have seen other undercover footage of retail employees cheating lottery winners out of their winnings. The first thing you should always do, as soon as you get your scratch off ticket or other lottery ticket is sign your name and fill out your address on the back. That way if you win big, there is no way the retail employee can cheat you. The lottery officials also say that you should ask for a validation receipt. I always check my tickets on the little ticket checker machine at the counter b4 I hand it over to the clerk and I always sign the back of my tickets as soon as I purchase them. The California Lottery is required to do these compliance checks once a year. So far this incident is being handled like it was an honest mistake by the clerk. However if the Lottery changes it's mind, and deems this to be fraud. This Palmdale Chevron will lose it's license to sell lottery products and they will be banned for life from ever doing so in the future. And the clerk could face fraud charges. I've seen the Lottery Officials come in and take everything and make arrests. It is not pretty. The lottery is now wondering what it is going to do with that investigator now that his secret identity has been compromised. Had this been a real situation, the lottery would find that winner and give him his winnings. So a word to the wise, ALWAYS SIGN THE BACK OF YOUR TICKET!!! AND ALWAYS ASK FOR A VALIDATION RECEIPT IF YOU WIN ANY MONEY!!! Okay! hahahaha
